The University of Kansas Hospital has partnered with the Kansas City Royals to provide medical services for the team and fans in Kansas City and spring training, according to a report from The Kansas City Star.
Vincent Key, MD, an orthopedic and sports medicine physician, will lead the team of medical providers. Under the agreement, KU Hospital and the University of Kansas physicians will become the official team physicians for the Roya's and provide onsite first aid services at the stadium on game days.
The Royals will provide onsite visits to the hospital for players, former players, the team mascot and front-office personnel. The two groups will also partner for periodic health awareness events at the stadium.
KU Hospital also has an agreement with the Kansas Speedway to operate the racetrack's field hospital and provide trauma center care.
