Here are 12 spine and neurosurgeons who recently joined a new practice or were promoted to a new position. NorthShore University HealthSystem named Julian Bailes, MD, chair of the department of neurosurgery and co-director of NorthShore Neurological Institute. He is a founding member and director of the Brain Injury Research Institute.

Neurosurgeon Nicholas M. Barbaro, MD, was recently named the chair of the department of neurological surgery at Indiana University and the first medical director of the new Indiana University Health Neurosciences Center of Excellence.

Wesley Medical Center in Hattiesburg, MS, has welcomed neurosurgeon Kerry Bernardo, MD, to the medical staff. He is a member of the Society of Neuroscience and American College of Surgeons.

Frank Bishop, MD, a neurosurgeon with a special interest in spine surgery, joined Northern Rockies Neurological Associates in Kalispell, Mont. He completed his fellowship in spine surgery at the Neurological Institute of the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.

Neurosurgeon Alice Cherqui, MD, recently joined the West Tennessee Neurosciences and Spine Center. She completed her fellowship in complex spine surgery at Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee.

Children's Hospital Boston has named Alan R. Cohen, MD, neurosurgeon-in-chief and chair of the hospital's department of neurosurgery. He will replace Michael Scott, MD, and plans to establish a new Minimally Invasive Neurosurgery Laboratory in his new role.

Bronson Healthcare Group's Bronson Orthopedics & Sports Medicine recently welcomed Joshua Ellwitz, MD. He completed his fellowship in adult and pediatric spinal deformity at the University of California-Davis and he has a special interest in minimally invasive procedures.

Joshua Landa, MD, joined Atlantic Spine Care in Edison, N.J. He has a professional interest in minimally invasive and open procedures, and completed fellowships in neurosurgery and orthopedic spine surgery at Cleveland Clinic.

Neurosurgeon Joel Norman, MD, recently joined the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville. He is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and Congress of Neurological Surgeons.

John Olsewski, MD, joined NYU Langone Orthopaedics at Westchester (N.Y.) and has been appointed professor in the department of orthopedic surgery, division of spine service, at NYU Langone Medical Center. He completed his fellowship in spine surgery at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.

George Picetti, MD, joined Sutter Medical Group in Sacramento, Calif. He has a professional interest in minimally invasive spine surgery and completed his spine fellowship at Texas Back Institute in Plano.

Spine surgeon Anthony A. Scaduto, MD, was named interim president and CEO of Los Angeles Orthopaedic Hospital. He currently serves as medical director at the hospital and chief of pediatric orthopedics at Santa Monica/UCLA Medical Center and Orthopaedic Hospital.
