Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush adds endoscopic spine surgery

Chicago-based Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush has added endoscopic spine surgery, an ultra-minimally invasive procedure.

Minimally invasive and endoscopic spine surgeon Kern Singh, MD, is pioneering the new technique for the system, according to a May 1 press release.

ESS is considered the next generation of minimally invasive spine surgery because it requires no incisions, allows for quicker patient recovery times and places just one to two small holes in the patient's skin.

Most patients return home the same day with little or no pain medication, according to the release.

Dr. Singh was recently promoted to vice chair of clinical affairs and the director of the division of spine surgery in the department of orthopedic surgery at Rush.
