InVivo Therapeutics Partners With The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis

Spinal Tech

InVivo Therapeutics, a Cambridge, Mass.-based company developing spinal cord injury treatments, recently partnered with the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine's Miami Project to Cure Paralysis, according to a company news release.

The strategic research and development collaboration will evaluate InVivo's biopolymer devices combined with cellular therapies, which include The Miami Project's Schwann cell technologies. The research will include joint ownership of any resulting intellectual property from the studies. The partnership will also claim the right of first offer for InVivo to license and commercialize resulting products worldwide.

InVivo's biopolymer scaffolding is designed to mimic the natural protective properties of the extracellular matrix within the spinal cord and promote the proliferation and survival of implanted cells. The Schwann cells insulate and promote the growth and regeneration of nerve fibers.
